Music 4 Cougars
Simon & Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson” was in a movie called “The Graduate” staring Dustin Hoffman & the very saucy Anne Bancroft that started our collective love affair with cougars. That was over 40 years ago. So, I poked around my music collection for a few more songs about these women who have a hankerin’ for younger men. I guess you can call this my Cougar Mama mixtape for March Cougar Madness.
Mrs. Robinson – Simon & Garfunkel
“Hide it in a hiding place where no one ever goes
put it in your pantry with your cupcakes.
it's a little secret, just the Robinson's affair.
Most of all you've got to hide it from the kids.”
All I Wanna Do is Make Love to You - Heart
“I didn't ask him his name
this lonely boy in the rain
Fate tell me it's right
is this love at first sight
Please don't make it wrong
just stay for the night”
Hot for Teacher – Van Halen
“Oh yeah, t-t-teacher stop that screamin'
Teacher don't you see? Don't wanna be no uptown fool
Maybe I should go to hell but I am doing well
Teacher needs to see me after school”
Maneater – Hall & Oates
“The woman is wild, a she-cat tamed by the purr of a Jaguar”
Your Love – Outfield
“Josie's on a vacation far away
Come around and talk it over
So many things that I wanna say
You know I like my girls a little bit older”
Maggie May – Rod Stewart
“You stole my heart and that's what really hurts
The morning sun when it's in your eyes really shows your age
But that don't worry me none, in my eyes you're everything
I laughed at all of your jokes, my love you didn't need to coax”
Desiree – Neil Diamond
“It was the third of June
On that younger day
Well I became a man
At the hands of a girl
Almost twice my age”
Evil Women – Electric Light Orchestra
“Ha ha woman, what you gonna do?
You destroyed all the virtues that the Lord gave you.
It’s so good that you're feeling pain
Yes you better get your face on board the very next train.”
Older Women – Ronnie McDowell
“So baby don't you worry about growin' older
Those young girls ain't got nothin' on you
'Cause it takes some livin', to get good at givin'
And givin' love is just where you could teach them a thing or two.”
Stacy’s Mom – Fountains of Wayne
“Stacy, do you remember when I mowed your lawn?
Your mom came out with just a towel on
I could tell she liked me from the way she stared
And the way she said, "You missed a spot over there"”
Cougar - Nadine Sutherland
